The Texas Natural Gas Vehicle Grant Program offers substantial incentive funding for the replacement of older, dirty gasoline or diesel vehicles or engines. Obviously by the name, all repower or replacement must result in using clean burning natural gas. There is a new option for this grant available for agriculture related direct transportation vehicles in selected counties. This grant is targeted to counties in and around the EPA designated Non-Attainment areas as well as the Triangle.
The Participating Dealer actually makes the grant application and has the responsibility to verify the owner and vehicle information, to verify NOx reduction of 25%, to ensure that the replacement vehicle is operated within the targeted counties for the period of the grant contract.
Both the owner and the Participating Dealer must therefore work together to accomplish the requirements of the TCEQ contract and to ensure that the replaced vehicle is destroyed in the proper manner. Information gathering documents will fully describe your old vehicles as well as the new ones and a series of photographs must be taken of specific portions of each old vehicle.
Grant funding offsets the incremental cost of dedicated natural gas medium or heavy duty vehicles (or the remanufactured replacement of the engine). This grant opportunity became available on January 2, 2014 and expected to stay open until May 31, 2015. Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
